AdDRESSing Dreams, a Girl 2 Girl Dress Donation Campaign. We will do this again next year!!

April to June 1st, 2012

Addressing Dreams is a Durham Region based campaign to collect donated cleaned, lightly worn graduation type dresses for grade 8 girls who need one for ceremonies this June. Young girls dream of the dress they will wear on the special occasion of graduating from elementary school into high school. For some, this is simply a dream that can’t be fulfilled due the financial situation of their family at this time. AdDRESSing Dreams is about girls stepping up and helping another girl through the donation of perhaps their own graduation dress from a previous year or another beautiful dress they may have, that will help to make a dream come true for a young girl. It’s about girls helping girls.

The donated dresses will be delivered to schools in the region for grade 8 girls in need to choose from as identified by a school teacher or principal. Any unused dresses, after June, will be donated to organizations for young girls and women in Durham, such as Denise House.

Girls who have a dress that is cleaned and in good shape, may take it to Carriage Trade Cleaning Centre in Oshawa or in Courtice.

Be part of helping to deliver a dream! Donate by June 1st.

Together we can make a difference.

Each dress is being " tagged" with a beautiful hand made tag, with words of affirmation of that girl's beauty and incredible value. These tags are being created and written by young women in the Durham Region.

The motto of the addressing dreams volunteers is     "We cannot always do great things, but we can do small things with great love."    Mother Teresa
