FLAME RETARDANT
Carriage Trade is Durham Regions first choice for flame retarding draperies, flags, office baffle separators and many other fabrics. We use an environmentally safe array of products. We carry MSDS sheets and are WHMIS trained to use these products. The purpose of a flame retardant is to arrest the pressence of oxygen in the event of a flame. It is not to say that the treated item will not eventually turn black in a fire but the treated item will not promote the growth of the fire at the source of the professionally treated item.
We are one of the contacts that the Oshawa and Whitby fire departments are reccommending to meet all fire prevention codes.
We can safely apply the retardant, test the item 7 days after curing, label the item and provide adequate doccumentation to the office administrator should a future fire inspector ask for supporting doccumentation. Most fire departments recognize that the application has a 5 to 7 year effectiveness.
If the item to be treated is new or has been recently cleaned, we can often apply the treatment on your premises. If the item is older and very dusty or dirty, our treatment will not safely adhere to the material and a cleaning will be required before we can guarantee the retardants performance.
